Growth and Differentiation: the Case of Hematopoiesis

چکیده

As we have mentioned on several occasions this semester, there is a marked contrast between the genotypes of the cells in our body and their phenotypes. Almost all the cells in our body have an identical genotype an identical set of genes. Yet the phenotypes of cells in our body are highly variable. The only way to reconcile these two apparently contradictory facts is to assume that the genotype of our cells contains much more information than is used by any one particular cell. In other words, different cells consult the common genomic library in different ways.

گزارش یک مورد توده کلیوی ناشی از خون‌رسانی خارج مغز استخوان در یک بیمار مبتلا به استئوپتروز

Extramedullary hematopoiesis is an extension of marrow beyond its bony casement. It is associated with a number of diseses when the normal function of marrow is disturbed. A large accumulation of extramedullary hematopoiesis may occur at the paravertebral area, mediastinum, spleen and liver. Intrarenal extramedullary hematopoiesis is rare.Only a few cases have been reported of myelofi...

Gene Expression and Promoter Methylation Status of VHL, Runx-3, E-cadherin, P15 and P16 Genes During EPO-Mediated Erythroid Differentiation of CD34+ Hematopoietic Stem Cells

Background: VHL (von Hippel-Lindau), Runx-3 (Runt-related transcription factor 3), E-cadherin (Epithelial cadherin), P15 (INK4a, cyclin dependent kinase inhibitor), and P16 (INK4b) genes are essential in hematopoiesis. The aim of this study was to explore the correlation between gene expression and promoter methylation in CD34+ stem cells before and after differentiation to erythroid lineage. M...

Negative regulation of primitive hematopoiesis by the FGF signaling pathway.

Hematopoiesis is controlled by multiple signaling molecules during embryonic and postnatal development. The function of the fibroblast growth factor (FGF) pathway in this process is unclear. Here we show that FGF plays a key role in the regulation of primitive hematopoiesis in chicks. Using hemoglobin mRNA expression as a sensitive marker, we demonstrate that timing of blood differentiation can...

P-173: Evaluation of The Follicular Growth after Mouse Ovarian Organ Culture in The Medium Supplemented with Growth Differentiation Factor-9B (GDF-9B)

Background: Growth differentiation factor -9B (GDF-9B) is an oocyte derived growth factor, this protein is essential for development of ovarian follicles and act mainly by binding to its receptor on the surface of granulosa cells. The effect of this factor on the growth of follicles in various developmental stages particularly primordial and primary follicles is unknown. The aim of this study w...
